The Oscar's Overnighter

7/11/08-7/12/08
This weekend Oscar and Lil O headed up to our property in Lowman, ID for an 11 year old scout overnighter. They had lots of fun, took lots of pictures, learned a lot, and stayed up way to late 2:00 am.

Oscar was joined with Porter Bender and Christian Sedrick. Here they are on the ride up jamming out to music playing their air guitars.

Camp life

Flag raising

Making fire and cooking breakfast. None of the boys had much experience with this, so an hour project took 2 1/2 hours. hehehehehehe

Fire starting contest. The scout record to start a fire was 28 minutes. Lil O got 28 min 30 seconds. You have to build a fire and maintain it long enough to burn through a rope set 2 feet above the ground. Lil O was pretty proud but of course his dad (Oscar) had to be a show off and challenge the boys. So after watching Lil O and Porter battle it out, he took on Christian. Christian got about 5 minutes because Lil O and Porter were giving him tips because they wanted him to beat Oscar. Oscar got a whopping 58 seconds!!! Show Off!! *wink*

Rope tieing contest. Had to tie 7 different knots in a timed relay manner. Lil O tied one knot then had to race over and tie a different knot a then run back until all knots were tied. Lil O got 2 minutes 15 seconds. He was very proud and he has since improved his time.

Making a stretcher, and Christian teaching Porter and Lil O how to hold him up. Tah Dah!!

Geochaching

Victory Milkshake at Oscar's favorite hunting getaway.

Way to go Oscar's!
