Conference Tent

10/5/08

Today was the second day of General Conference. Earlier in the week we read a story in the Friend Magazine about a family who made a conference tent. They wanted to be like the people in King Benjamin's time listening to the prophet from their tent. So the boys decided we would build a tent in our living room and watch the prophet too.

We hurried and got everything put together at the last minute. I think I was still handing out snacks as the opening hymn was sung.

It was fairly quiet for about 30 minutes and then Mason's popcorn ran out. So needless to say Oscar, Zachary, and Parker were able to complete their notes and conference booklets during the 2:00 session when Mason was asleep. *smile* The boys really enjoyed their tent.

Cool tent. Our family has the same tradition. I always imagine it keeping the kids happy and quiet, but that never works. They do love the tent, though, and it makes them look forward to Conference. (That and the caramel corn.)
