Dinosaur Egg Hatching

One of the boys received a dinosaur egg for their birthday, it was either Zachary or Parker. It's the kind of egg you can put in the bathtub with you and watch it hatch (fizz and create sweet smelling bubbles). When it is all done you are left with pieces of a dinosaur you can put together.

Here are the boys watching it 'hatch'.
Here is the hatching process, the fizzing, bubbling, and smelly stuff.
.
Here is what was hatched from the egg.
And here is the end product. TahDah!!
Zachary's version
Parker's version
They were so proud of this moment, and fought over who got to play with it. Now we don't even know where it is! Figures! It was fun while it lasted.

Must Be An Age Thing

I had to laugh when I saw this. I could hear Mason calling for me, he sounded far away almost muffled. I found him in his room with the door shut, I had to open the door. Apparently he had too much bag balm on his hands to be able to turn the door knob!!! I thought about Bethany Adams and her episode with the Vicks, she was all shiny, well so was Mason. He had tried to rub it on his legs, arms and tummy like he sees Mommy does to him after bathtime, but he got a little bit more than Mommy does.

Here I am trying to salvage as much as a can. Needless to say his skin was nice and soft for a good day and half!

Imagination/Dress Up - A Boys Version

These are some pictures I've taken over the past couple of weeks of my boys using their imaginations. Hope you enjoy them as much as I have.

Mason really really loves trying on shoes, wearing backpacks, and cooking with mommy. Oh and he absolutely loves keys!!!

Here Mason and Parker are Kings for the day (Thanks to Sister Adrienne Petersen for the King hats). They love making 'Forts', this time it was in their own room instead of upstairs.

Mason Playing the guitar, watch out Uncle Michael!! Okay so it's a sword, but he thinks it's the real thing. He even makes a pretty good sound effect!!

Mason lining up all his toys.
Here is Oscar and Zachary using the back of Moose Grandpa's (Grandpa Williamson is working in the Marshal Islands) truck. They have great imaginations. BTW they took these pictures themselves, I found them on the camera.
Can you see the shadow on the truck? One of them, probably Oscar thought it was a good idea to climb the rock tower to get the full view of their 'fort'. They are lucky their dad didn't see them doing this.
This is Oscar.
They even figured out how to use the timer!! I believe this is a mock battle.
What memories!!!

Elder's Quorum Party

This was Oscar's first year participating in the Elder's Quorum Cookoff. He made a Strawberry Trifle that turned out to be delicious and pretty (especially since he waited until the last minute to prepare it). And even though he made it, he liked Kip's best and voted for his for 1st place (he loves chocolate). Here are the winners in the Dessert Category.

1st Place - Oscar - Congratulations Honey!!!!

2nd Place - Kip

3rd Place - The Cooks (Homemade Oreos) - I loved these. (Is that Gage or Caleb in the background waiting to get his hands on one of those goodies?)

Here is the prize Oscar received, looks like a yummy date night destination! (J/K honey)

I can't wait to get all the receipes, Kip said he was going to compile them, sure hope he does. Here is a little extra picture from the party. McKenna and Parker are having one of their famous argue conversations before they take off running and playing. Too cute!

A Night With Barrage

Last night Oscar and I went to see the group Barrage. I had heard this was a group of musician's, primarily fiddlers, who were a cross between Stomp and Riverdance, so I had to go see. It was amazing how talented they all were (it shows they've been playing since they were 4 or 5 years old). Their fingers were flying so fast over their instruments while they are jumping, dancing, and singing!!!! I was amazed! Oscar actually said he didn't think it was as dumb as he thought it would be. That's code for he liked it, but he is a big mocho guy and he doesn't want to come right out and say "Yes it was good"! They played bluegrass, jazz, celtic, ukrainian, rock-n-roll, swing, and classical music. My feet were tapping and my hands were clapping to the beat. It was so much fun.

Here are a couple of pictures of the group. I got these off their website, we weren't allowed in with our own cameras. Even though I didn't take the pictures, they did do these things.

It was a great night. I'm glad Oscar went with me. *wink*

Baby Shower for April and Colby

Last night Judie Sedrick and I put together an open house/baby shower to celebrate April's new little addition. He is sooooo adorable!!!

He was so content to be held and he loved his binky, so April was able to have some adult interaction. She was all smiles the whole night. We all enjoyed some great food and conversation.

Here are a couple of pictures of the group.

For those of you who wanted to know what was in the salad, here is the receipe:

Salad ingredients:

Happy Valentines Day

Our family tradition for Valentines Day is to have a heart shaped pizza, with red juice, and lots of red and pink heart decorations. We also had the safe food (mac-n-cheese) it was yellow because I wasn't brave enough to put red food coloring in it, plus Parker might not eat it, and if I made macaroni and tomato soup big Oscar wouldn't eat it. We make name cards for our place at the table, this year it was pink hearts attached to a toothpick and stuck into a hershey kiss. I also put the boys valentines from us at the table too.

The day before we made heart shaped sugar cookies for the boys to hand out in school. We had a lot of fun. I put an apron on Parker (wasn't sick yet) and he helped me roll the dough and push down the cookie cutters. He was very proud of his job. Each of the boys got a turn to help, except with Mason we invented stuff for him to do in another area of the kitchen since he was still coughing. By the time we were done Parker had more flour on him than the table. He made me laugh because he kept calling the flour sugar the whole time, no matter how many times we corrected him. I wish I had a picture of him in the apron, but I was covered in flour and cookie dough (I got the sticky part of the deal) so I wasn't thinking of picking up the camera. We frosted them white with red sprinkles, and of course they each got to have a sample of their work before they went to bed.

Here are my 'boys' getting ready to chow down.

This year though we didn't do a lot of celebration since half of us were sick, Mason, Parker and Daddy. We ended up going to bed early. Whooo Hoooo we're exciting aren't we.

Trip to Pocatello

We traveled to my home town of Pocatello over the weekend to celebrate my nephew Jaxson's 3rd birthday. We had lots of fun visiting with the family. Here is the birthday boy. He was the most excited about getting Safari animals, especially the Rhinos and the Elephants (I know I took a picture of this, but I think it was with my sisters camera).

Here is my newest niece Raegan Aseret (Teresa spelled backwards), isn't she precious? When she is awake you just want to hold her and kiss her all the time. Her smile will melt all your sorrow and frustration away, she is the perfect little blessing.

Here is my sister-in-law Krysten holding Raegan, she is married to my brother Mike (shown below).

This is my brother Mike watching a disgusting show about Crocodile killing wildlife as they cross the river. I finally made him turn it off. Yes I became the mean mom.

Mason really loved the party too. He took advantage when Jaxson put something down to try it out for himself. He is trying to figure out how to put on a football helmet, he finally figured it out.

This picture cracked me up. We were trying to get all the cousins to sit together for a picture before we had to go back to Nampa, like we always do. But this time more than half of them were crying and screaming because who knows why. So we decided to take the picture anyway to remember how they really act.

Happy Chinese New Year

This year for the Cub Scout Blue and Gold Banquet we celebrated the Chinese New Year. This year it is the Year of the Rat. We had a lot of fun putting this together. Oscar is the Cubmaster, I am one of the Bear Den Leaders, Oscar is a Webelos, Zachary is a Wolf, and we have Parker and Mason hot on their tales. Needless to say, we are involved with Scouting, which has been a lot of fun.

Here is Oscar leading the boys in a dragon parade through the audience.

We had some special guests. Here are the Jones boys showing us their karate moves.

Each of the boys showed us a demonstration of the karate moves, Zach did his with a sword (I wouldn't want to get in a fight with him), and they each broke boards. Preston tried with his feet, Sterling with his hands, and Zach just broke that board with his HEAD. I had a headache from watching.

Carter Andrews came to teach us how to count to ten in Chinese. I have already forgotten, but one of the numbers was 'leo'

We had lots of food, orange chicken, rice, veggies, and of course fortune cookies. We decorated in the colors red for good luck, and gold for prosperous times, we even had chopsticks on the tables for the gungho person to try. I was not gungho, but the boys were. (sorry no pictures of that). Oscar's mom Leonie even came to the celebration with us. At one point while handing out the awards for the boys achievements Oscar had her go to the front of the room so he could introduce her, and show the boys that it is okay to kiss their moms. The scouts have a tradition that when they receive their badges that has a mother's pin they all chant "kiss, kiss, kiss" until the scout kisses their mom.
Here is Little O receiving his Webelos badge, I was able to kiss him without him running or fighting. What a sweet son! I guess he loves me.

Creative Way to Loose a Tooth

So I'm folding laundry in my room and all of a sudden I hear this "Ahhhhhh my tooth, my tooth, my tooth came out Ahhhhhhh!!!!" I knew who it was because of all the drama, before I saw them. Zachary came running past me into the bathroom sucking in water and spitting it out. At first I thought it might have been a permanent tooth the way he was carrying on about it. When he settled down a bit he was finally able to tell me his story. He was watching TV and had my soft tape measure around his tooth and moving it back and forth like floss, when all of a sudden it popped out!!

Good grief Zachary!! Of course something would be in his mouth. I didn't even know he had a loose tooth. I hope it grows back soon. The gap on the other side of his mouth was a tooth that came out a couple of months ago and still has not broke the surface. I think he is trying to earn some extra money! *wink*

Super Bowl

Okay so our family has absolutely no 'clue' about football, or any other sport, we're sort of a hunting family. *wink* However we have a big screen HD TV (foreign language to me) and stadium seating, perfect for the big came (apparently this draws the male crowd). So once again Oscar had some friends over to watch the 'big game'.

But before they arrived Oscar and Neil were hard at work building the stadium seating.

Here is the finished product (the couch is from upstairs, we have a few scratches in the paint coming down the stairs).

Here is what it looks like with the crowd. Do they look like their having fun?

Here is where we stashed all the kids while the boys watched their football, or was it the commericals? I have to say some were funny, some were absolutely disgusting (did anyone see the heart one?), and some were just plain dumb.

Here are the girls of the evening. I think the food was the best part.

Here is Parker celebrating with Kip when the Giants won, the only Giants fans at the house. *wink*

I should have taken a picture of the aftermath! I made Oscar clean up, but somehow he forgot about the couches still in the living room!!!
